Residents of 27 settlements in GBAO for the first time received access to electricity
The Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Tajikistan, together with the energy company Pamir Energy and OJSC TGEM, have completed the first phase of a large-scale, socially significant project to electrify remote and hard-to-reach villages in GBAO.
As part of the project "Connecting settlements to the distribution network of the GBAO of the Republic of Tajikistan" in November 2021, residents of 27 settlements in GBAO for the first time received access to uninterrupted and high-quality power supply.
How did the population of highland villages react to the appearance of light in their homes? Did the coronavirus epidemic interfere with the plans of power engineers? Gulomabdol Gulomabdolov, project manager of TGEM JSC, answered these and other questions.
- Tell me, how did the electrification of hard-to-reach villages in GBAO take place?
- The fact is that our company traditionally adheres to its own motto during the implementation of its current projects: "We build the future together." And this means that we have a clear awareness of the fact that we are by no means alone in our desire to improve the living conditions of our fellow countrymen. In this regard, no less interest was shown by local activists, heads of village councils, heads of district administrations and, naturally, responsible persons of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic.
The very same project "Electrification of rural areas of Tajikistan", which was approved by the World Bank, was proposed by the government of the country. Based on the signed contract dated October 2020, between Pamir Energy and TGEM, residents of 27 settlements with a total population of 4400 people received access to uninterrupted electricity.
- Electricity also received first-aid posts and schools?
- Yes, within the framework of this project, 21 schools and 10 medical institutions were connected to the power grid.
