TGEM to Participate in Major Reconstruction of Saadi Sherozi Avenue in Dushanbe
On October 13, 2026, a contract was signed for the implementation of a major infrastructure project involving the reconstruction of Saadi Sherozi Avenue, the construction of a two-level traffic interchange, and the reconstruction of the road bridge over the Dushanbinka River, commonly known as the “Mostopoyezd” Bridge.
The contract was concluded between the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Tajikistan, a consortium comprising OJSC Tajikhydroelectromontazh (TGEM) and the Chinese company Heze Urban Construction Engineering Development Group Co., Ltd. (HUCG), and the Dushanbe Road Rehabilitation Project Implementation Unit.
The project involves the comprehensive modernization of one of the capital's key transport corridors — the section of Saadi Sherozi Avenue extending from N. Karabaev Street to the bridge over the Dushanbinka River.
The planned works include widening the avenue to eight traffic lanes, introducing dedicated public transport lanes along selected sections, constructing a modern two-level traffic interchange, and reconstructing the existing road bridge.
The project is expected to increase the capacity of the road network, improve traffic flow management, reduce congestion, and provide safer and more comfortable conditions for motorists, public transport passengers, and pedestrians.
Construction works are scheduled to begin before the end of 2026. Under the terms of the contract, the project implementation period is three years from the date of signing.
The project is financed under a loan agreement between the Republic of Tajikistan and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD)
