Construction of the Highway

Construction of the Highway

On June 3, 2025, the construction site of the highway from the Western Gate to the Chortut neighborhood was visited by the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, and the Chairman of the National Assembly of the Supreme Assembly of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mayor of Dushanbe, His Excellency Rustam Emomali.

During the visit, the Head of State was presented with information on the progress of the second stage of construction.

TGEM, the contractor for the project, continues the implementation of one of the key infrastructure projects of the capital — the construction of a modern highway that forms part of the ring road around the city of Dushanbe.

Construction began in 2023. The total length of the road is 9.2 km. The project includes:

• 8 traffic lanes (4 in each direction);

• a 37.5-meter bridge over the Gissar Canal;

• a 175-meter overpass over the railway;

• two traffic interchanges;

• pedestrian sidewalks;

• landscaping on both sides (decorative and shade-providing trees and shrubs).

The second stage involves the construction of a two-level road 67.3 meters in length. The second and third phases of the project (with a combined length of 4.2 km) are scheduled for completion by 2027. The first phase (5 km) was commissioned in 2023.

More than 200 specialists and 44 units of road construction machinery are involved in the project. The work is being carried out around the clock with a focus on quality, safety, and adherence to schedule.

Upon completion, the highway will reduce traffic congestion on the central streets of the capital and redirect traffic flows from the Gissar Valley to the southern and eastern directions.
