Review of Construction Progress at CT-4 of the Rogun HPP

On August 26, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, reviewed the progress of construction works at the fourth construction tunnel (CT-4) of the Rogun Hydropower Plant. The works on this facility are being carried out by OJSC “TGEM”.

The fourth tunnel is located on the right bank and serves as a spillway facility designed to discharge excess water from the reservoir during the flood season. The tunnel has a total length of 1,770 meters, a diameter of 15 meters, and a discharge capacity of 3,500 cubic meters per second. To date, excavation and reinforcement works have been fully completed, while concreting is ongoing: out of a total planned volume of 99,306 cubic meters, 81,480 cubic meters have been completed, representing 82%.

Gate chambers have been installed in the tunnel: at the entrance — a two-leaf flat gate system, and at the bifurcation — two flat gate chambers and two semi-circular gate chambers for each branch. In branch “A,” excavation works amounting to 69,572 cubic meters have been completed, along with a portion of concreting and grouting works — 25,859 cubic meters out of the 39,984 cubic meters specified in the project.

Additionally, at the tunnel’s outlet section, earthworks with a total volume of 569,400 cubic meters have been executed. Shotcreting, anchor installation, and drainage works are ongoing. A stilling basin is being constructed in the riverbed to reduce the pressure of the discharged water. The total volume of earthworks at this section has reached 997,000 cubic meters, while the completed area of shotcreting has amounted to 24,944 square meters (68.3%).

OJSC “TGEM” continues to carry out all works in strict accordance with project specifications and the construction schedule. The quality of every stage is under constant supervision, ensuring the reliability and durability of the facility.

During his review of the completed works and conversation with construction personnel, the Leader of the Nation, Emomali Rahmon, expressed satisfaction with the progress and issued specific instructions for the timely and high-quality completion of the remaining works.
