Familiarization with the progress of construction at the Rogun HPP

The President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, esteemed Emomali Rahmon, and the Chairman of the National Assembly of the Supreme Assembly of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mayor of Dushanbe, esteemed Rustam Emomali, reviewed the progress of the construction at the Rogun Hydropower Plant (HPP).

At the Rogun HPP dam, located at an altitude of 1140 to 1300 meters above sea level, all blasting and earthmoving works, with a total project volume of 880 thousand cubic meters, have been fully completed.

The installation of reinforced concrete anchors is 80% complete, pressure anchors – 85%, and reinforcement concrete works – 81%.

Currently, strengthening works on permanent water intake structures are ongoing, aimed at ensuring the high-quality completion of tasks by workers and specialists as per the project specifications.

The total volume of concrete works in this section is 55 thousand cubic meters, of which 80% has been completed to date.

In the core zone of the dam, work is continuing around the clock in two shifts, with more than 160 machines and mechanisms mobilized daily. In the dam core area alone, about 400 people are working.

In the core of the hydropower plant’s dam, six types of main construction materials are being layered according to technology, with the quality of work inspected daily.

Currently, the laying of materials, including clay and filters, continues in the dam core at an altitude of 1013 meters above sea level. The project volume of clay in the core of the dam is planned to be 7.5 million cubic meters, and to date, over 561 thousand cubic meters have been placed.

In total, 21 million cubic meters of various construction materials have been laid in the dam zone.

On average, the dam of the hydropower plant is rising by approximately 50 centimeters per day.

This year, the water level in the reservoir was raised by 5 meters, reaching 1075 meters.

The project height of the Rogun HPP dam is 335 meters, making it the tallest dam of its kind in the world.

The layers near the mountain are being strengthened in accordance with technological requirements. In the core zone of the dam, cement reinforcement work on the left and right slopes of the mountain up to an elevation of 1110 meters continues, involving 5093 drilling holes, of which 1800 have been drilled and cemented to date.

OJSC "TGEM" has deployed more than 6200 employees and engineers, as well as over 950 units of modern equipment and machinery, on various sections of the Rogun HPP construction.

On another construction site, at Quarry No. 17, clay material is being processed and stored using 8 modern installations and 3 plants operated by subcontractor Lot 2 "Vibild," with the participation of OJSC "TGEM" specialists. The design capacity of each clay processing installation ranges from 50 to 100 tons per hour. As in other construction areas, qualified workers and specialists, using modern equipment and machinery, are engaged in the processing and storage of clay at Quarry No. 17.

At present, 1.5 million cubic meters of clay have been processed and stored at the quarry. In accordance with construction standards and requirements, after the completion of concrete work in the dam core, clay placement began in June of this year at an elevation of 984 meters. Currently, 67 dump trucks with a carrying capacity of 40 to 90 tons are transporting clay to the dam core area.
