"TGEM": 65 Years of Excellence in Energy and Construction
In 2024, TGEM celebrates its 65th anniversary, reflecting a vibrant history of growth from a modest installation site to a leading contractor in the construction of hydrotechnical and infrastructure facilities.
Over these decades, the company has significantly contributed to the development of not only Tajikistan but the entire Central Asian region.
Glorious Past
Founded in 1959 in Dushanbe as the Tajik Installation Site "Gidroelectromontazh" (TIS GEM), the company took on the responsibility for constructing key facilities that laid the energy arteries of Tajikistan, bringing life to its cities and villages with the power of power plants, substations, and high-voltage lines.
Under the leadership of experienced engineer and director Yanis O.P., TIS GEM began with electrical installation work at the Yavan Thermal Power Plant, providing heating and electricity to the population and enterprises.
This project was the first step towards conquering the heights of Tajik energy.
In the 1970s, under the leadership of Dybyshin G.N. and Kremenetsky L.P., the company confidently expanded its range of services, launching a metal processing and metal construction workshop.
From 1972 to 1979, TIS GEM successfully completed electrical installation works and commissioned hydroelectric units of the Nurek HPP, one of the most ambitious projects of that time.
Throughout the 1980s, TIS GEM participated in the installation of high-voltage equipment at silicon-converter substations and commissioned the electrolysis buildings of the Aluminum Plant.
In 1986, TIS GEM began work on the Rogun HPP, a significant milestone in the company's history, demonstrating its high competence and ability to implement large-scale projects.
In the early 1990s, the company faced new economic conditions requiring rapid adaptation and strategic decisions to maintain its competitiveness. This period, under the careful guidance of Ilchibaev T.Kh., Machigin A.N., and Sadulloev O.Kh., became an important stage in the history of TJEM, laying a solid foundation for the company's further development and success.
Ambitious Present
Technological progress has always been at the forefront of TGEM's focus. The introduction of advanced methods of electrical installation of high-voltage equipment has enabled the company to increase the efficiency and safety of its work.
The growth in the number of employees, the expansion of the range of services, the creation of new production facilities, and the introduction of new technologies have strengthened the company's position as a leader in the energy sector of Tajikistan.
With the advent of the new millennium, under the leadership of Saidov J. M., the company entered a new era of ambitious projects. Many international tenders were won, and significant projects such as the rehabilitation of the Perpadnaya HPP, the construction of the Bostan substation, and the opening of a plant for the production of reinforced concrete poles and concrete products were implemented.
During this period, the company won its first international tender outside the country, in Afghanistan, demonstrating TGEM's readiness to implement international projects.
Currently, under the leadership of Safarov I.D., the company continues to show dynamic growth and active expansion of its activities and geographical presence. Today, TGEM is a multifaceted holding operating both in the domestic and international markets.
Significant achievements during this period include successes in the construction of the Rogun HPP. The company launched concrete mixing and crushing and sorting plants at the site, won the tender for the river Vakhsh diversion, and signed a contract for the construction of the right-bank facilities as part of the Rogun HPP construction project.
The rehabilitation of the Kayrakkum and Nurek HPPs, the construction of the Sebzor HPP in Pamir, and the CASA 1000 project are just a few of the current projects that brightly demonstrate the high level of professionalism of the company.
TGEM actively implements innovative projects aimed at improving the quality of services provided and contributing to ecology and energy efficiency.
Among them is the successful implementation of a project to reduce electricity losses and the introduction of an Automated System for Control and Accounting of Electricity (ASCAE) in Khujand and Dushanbe.
This project is not only expanding successfully but also continues to actively develop.
This year, the company's focus is on implementing a billing system in the Khatlon region (Kulob and Bokhtar). The goal of these projects is to reduce electricity losses and improve the environmental situation.
In 2023, an enterprise for the production of electrical equipment IMOD was launched, reflecting the support of the constructive policy of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan towards the accelerated industrialization of the country.
Social responsibility is an integral part of TGEM's corporate culture. The company annually supports social projects, investing in the development of sports, education, and providing assistance to those in need.
Currently, TGEM has an agreement with the Singapore Institute of Management Development (MDIS) branch in Dushanbe, within which the company provides quotas for education at this university.
The contribution to education is also reflected in the construction of secondary school No. 6 in Dushanbe in 2019 and the ongoing construction of the National Theatre.
TGEM also serves as the main sponsor of the Tajikistan Youth Football League, actively supporting the younger generation of athletes.
